Video: Louisiana GOPher Gov. Jindal state-hops on 14 Sundays to 14 churches by helicopter to sign, deliver over-sized fake checks from Office of the Governor, Bobby Jindal, personally; money actually comes from feds’ economic stimulus funding he attacks

From Raw Story (edited, highlighted):

Louisiana’s Republican Governor Bobby Jindal … has been using taxpayer money to make helicopter visits to churches in the state, costing the taxpayers over $180,000.

The Louisiana newspaper The Advocate reported:

“In May, June and July, there was rarely a Sunday when the governor didn’t board a taxpayer-funded helicopter to attend church services in far-flung parts of the state. He traveled by helicopter to churches less frequently in March and April.

“Over five months, Jindal took more than three dozen helicopter trips. Fourteen were to attend church services, according to state records.”

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow was joined Thursday night by Interfaith Alliance president Rev. Dr. Wenton Gaddy, who wrote a letter to Gov. Jindal expressing his concern about the expenses, and Jindal’s emphasis, as an elected official, on making high-profile visits to churches.

In response to their letter, the Interfaith Alliance was attacked by a spokeswoman with the governor’s office.

The governor’s office attacked the Interfaith Alliance for supporting same-sex marriage [and for questioning the right-wing neo-Christian supremacist exclusivity of the Bush-era “National Day of Prayer”], and went on to say it was therefore “not surprising” that the alliance would take exception to something Gov. Jindal had done. [Video with full post]
