There is nothing that the U.S.A. is doing in the world today for which it would be good for you to die or be wounded physically or psychologically, permanently, often instantly.

There is no need for you to leave your plans and hopes and possible futures behind, with your loved ones.

Not worth it at this time.

Lateisha Green anti-transgender murder trial goes to jury in NY

According to the Associated Press, jury deliberations ended Friday, July 17, resulting in the manslaughter conviction of Dwight DeLee for the killing of 22-year-old Lateisha Green.

The Syracuse jury, in upstate New York, also convicted DeLee of fatally shooting Green outside a house party in November because of “anti-gay bias”, according to the AP.

The jury deliberated for about six hours over two days.

DeLee faces additional prison time because he was convicted of a bias crime. He becomes just the second person in the U.S. convicted of a bias crime that involved a transgender person.

As many of you know, TLDEF staff members have been on the ground in Syracuse, New York, working with the family of slain transgender woman Lateisha Green, who was shot and killed in an alleged hate crime last November. The trial has put a tremendous strain on Lateisha’s family, and that strain has only intensified now that the jury has begun its deliberations.

The first video below is a news story from about a press conference held in the state capitol building by the state Representative from Oklahoma City, Republican Sally Kern, so that she could deliver to the state, the nation and the world her (she would prefer “the”) exclusionary, neo-Christian nationalist, religious and het supremacist “Proclamation for Morality”.

Oklahomans for Equality Proclamation of Morality

I, Toby Jenkins, President of the Board of Directors and Advisors of Oklahomans for Equality, in order to commemorate this 233rd Anniversary of our nation’s founding issue this proclamation acknowledging our ancestors as examples of true morality:

Whereas, “The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for giving to Mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance” (George Washington); and,

Whereas, The U.S. Constitution reads “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the freedom of press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”; and,
