LaTeisha Green’s killer convicted of manslaughter and bias crime

This is an update to this previous post.

According to the Associated Press, jury deliberations ended Friday, July 17, resulting in the manslaughter conviction of Dwight DeLee for the killing of 22-year-old Lateisha Green.

The Syracuse jury, in upstate New York, also convicted DeLee of fatally shooting Green outside a house party in November because of “anti-gay bias”, according to the AP.

The jury deliberated for about six hours over two days.

DeLee faces additional prison time because he was convicted of a bias crime. He becomes just the second person in the U.S. convicted of a bias crime that involved a transgender person.

Original Story

The man who shot and killed a prominent Kansas doctor who performed legal late-term abortions — while he attended church services — has continued to advocate through mailings from his jail cell that such killings are justifiable, and is communicating with individuals in the anti-choice movement, only weeks after suggesting to authorities that others might be planning similar attacks.
Abortion doctor murderer Scott Roeder urges more murders of abortion doctors from his jail cell
Scott Roeder, 51, is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the May 31 death of Dr. George Tiller — an attack that reignited the national debate over abortion and gave Roeder icon status in the anti-choice movement.

From his cell in Sedgwick County jail, Roeder has been sending anti-choice pamphlets that laud Paul Hill, who was convicted of murdering a legal abortion provider in 1994, as an “American hero,” and include examples of Hill’s writings about how the killing of legal abortion providers is justifiable.

Hill was executed in 2003 for killing Dr. John Bayard Britton and his bodyguard outside a Pensacola, Fla., abortion clinic.

Caution Urged in Provincetown, Mass. due to police vs. gays

The Police Lied to cover their brutality. I paid $690 in charges, but will spend tens of thousands to clear my name, protect others and honor the U.S. Constitution. These kind of incidents continue to happen in Provincetown (3 different Court workers warned me) and they need to be stopped! I only wish a video caught this beating. Provincetown might be pretty, but police and officials have made it ugly for all.”–Barry Scott

Summer Season ’09 Starts in Provincetown as usual: Hate crime!

Barry Scott's nose 5 hours after injury as no mug shot was taken by the nervous police.Barry Scott's swollen face days later. One of many bruises from kicks to Barry's legs by metal enforced police boots.

(This is almost a mirror of the page maintained at this link by friends and supporters of Barry Scott.)

Many hate crimes occurred in Provincetown, Massachusetts recently. The 2009 Memorial Day season began with the beating of two women; one of them thrown through a restaurant window. This incident was buried by the gay press who didn’t want to upset the town that brings them so much money (One put a small item on page 13!).
